Dress for the weather. If it’s cool and wet, layer with a waterproof jacket and a hat. We have a limited amount of skirts to protect your legs so bring along some rain pants if it’s a drippy day. Wear shoes that can get wet, they most likely will. If you’re joining us on a tour, we recommend water shoes, sturdy sandals like Keens or tennis shoes. Flip-flops are not recommended. If it’s hot, wear a hat and sunglasses (Polarized preferred) and always bring water. We have phone protectors, hats, Polarized sunglasses, water shoes, and water for sale at our store and rental kiosk for your convenience.
Our office and store is located at 306146 Hwy 101 N, in Brinnon, Washington – the south end of the Brinnon Community Center building. Our kayak rental beach is at Yelvik’s General Store and Campground – 251 Hjelvicks Rd, Brinnon. The kayak rental kiosk at the beach is manned with an attendant in the late spring and summer only.
During the late spring and summer, walk-in kayak rentals are available at Yelvik’s Beach – 251 Hjelvicks Rd., adjacent to Yelviks General Store in Brinnon. There is a 5$ parking fee to enter Yelvik’s Beach that can be paid with our attendant after your rental. Just let yourself through the roped off driveway, re-latch behind you and park in front of the rental trailer in the grassy area (not in a waterfront campsite). The driveway is roped off for the security and privacy of campers and to discourage unnauthorized entry. It is not intended to keep you from entering to rent kayaks or join your tour group.
If you are just picking up equipment, you will not need to pay the parking fee.
During the shoulder seasons (early spring and fall) when the rental trailer may be unattended just call us when you arrive at the beach or stop into our office to to get an attendant to help you before you go. Our office/store on the south end of the Brinnon Community Center.

All of our tours are kid friendly, however there are some age restrictions and some things to consider. Our OYSTERS ON THE BEACH, LUNCH IN THE WILD & NIGHT/BIOLUMINESENCE kayaking tours are not recommend for children under 6 years old. Children are not allowed to sit on the lap of any paddler. They must be big enough to sit in the front seat of a tandem kayak with an adult paddling from the back seat. There are not reduced prices for children on kayak tours.
For kayak rentals, infants and small children may sit in the front seat of a tandem kayak with an adult if a strong paddler takes full responsibility for paddling your kayak. We have life vests for all ages from infants on up.
We also welcome children on our forest tours. These tours are designed for adults but our guides are great with kids and have a few tricks to keep them engaged and interested. One child 6 years and under is free per paying adult on our forest tours, however you may need to follow us in your own vehicle as our tour van is not equipped with child seats.
Our kayak rentals and plant & mushroom tours are dog friendly!
We have doggy life vests available if you would like to bring your pup on your rental kayak or paddleboard.
If your bringing your dog on one of our Forest Tours, please bring along their leash and potty bags. Well behaved, friendly dogs only please. You will also need to follow us in your own vehicle as dogs are not allowed in our tour van.
Dogs are not allowed on kayak tours.
We will cancel kayak tours and rentals with forecasted high winds or extreme rainfall. If foul weather is forecasted we will notify you the day before your tour or rental. However on occasion, high winds materialize without notice and we must cancel with little notice for your safety. Unexpected weather cancellations are rare and are most common in the spring. For weather cancellations you will be able to reschedule your service or ask for a full refund.
We will not shut down kayak services for light and moderate rain or cold temperatures. It’s the PNW.
You will never be pressured to keep your reservation if you feel unsafe or are uncomfortable with the weather. It’s supposed to be fun!
For all Forest Tours and our Bioluminescence / Night Kayaking Tour we require at least 7 days notice for a refund. No exceptions. However, we MAY be able to reschedule you for the same tour, or similar tour on a future date by availability.
For all other kayak tours besides the Bioluminescence / Night Kayaking Tour, we require 3 days notice for a full refund (minus the booking fee if you paid online).

If you cancel your tour, the booking fee is non-refundable. If you purchase your ticket in our store or over the phone there is no booking fee charged.
No refund will be given for no-shows and you will not be able to reschedule after the fact.
If we cancel the tour due to weather or for any other reason, you will be refunded the full amount or you may reschedule for another day.
