On this guided half day adventure we paddle along the scenic rocky shoreline of the North Hood Canal in search of the area’s abundant wildlife before stopping at a secluded beach for a picnic lunch, swimming, and beach combing. Seals, eagles, harbor porpoise, marine invertebrates, small fish and river otters may be spotted along the way and occasionally we encounter larger marine mammals such as Orca, humpback whales and California Sea Lions.
Bring your own lunch, or order a picnic from us prepared by The Crow’s Nest Bistro ($17.50 each). Pic-nic lunches include a meat & cheese or veggie wrap, fresh fruit, something sweet, and a soda or water. Please wear shoes that are sturdy and can get wet. There are many oysters on the beach where we stop and they can be quite sharp. Feel free to shuck oysters on the beach or let us teach you how! We always carry oyster knives and gloves!
The waters in the Hood Canal can reach 73 degrees F in the summer, so wear your swimsuit and don’t forget to wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses!
If you wish to catch your own Dungeness and/or Red Rock crab during your tour let us know. $25 for each crab pot dropped. Please come prepared with your WDFW shellfishing license and Dungeness Crab Catch Card. You may purchase licenses locally at the Brinnon General Store, Hoodsport IGA, Eldon Store or through the WDFW on-line licensing system. Bring your own bait or purchase in our store.
All kayaking and safety equipment and your Yelvik’s Beach day use / parking fee is included.
